Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth announces Post Graduate Fellowship for Law, Public Policy and Indian Jurisprudence

Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth (Deemed to be University) Post Graduate Fellowship is one of the most celebrated Fellowship programme of the University on Legal Theory, International Trade & Commercial Laws, Public Policy and Indian Jurisprudence, requiring the scholars to pursue and undertake research on India-Specific themes. 

The Fellowship is for pursuing a two year, residential Post Graduate programme in Legal Theory(LL.M.), International Trade and Commercial Laws (LL.M.) or in Public Policy (M.A.) which focuses on indian jurisprudence, enabling students to pursue research on India- specific themes on law, public administration, development studies etc. 

Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth’s Post Graduate programme on Legal Theory includes systematic academic reflections on national, sub-national, trans-national and supra-national legal institutions and orders, drawing from various perspectives of legal history, jurisprudence, cultural anthropology,  political and social philosophy, political psychology, Indian knowledge systems and Indology, feminism, critical legal studies etc. The Post Graduate Programme on International Trade and Commercial Laws offers insight into topics related to globalisation of markets, export-import laws, corporate laws, competition laws, trade in goods and services and dispute settlement mechanisms. The Postgraduate Programme  on  Public Policy and Governance aims to impart the necessary knowledge and skills that will help the students to develop meaningful and sustainable solutions to the challenging situations in public affairs and governance. 

These programmes open avenues into the world of public affairs for those who are passionate and committed about contributing to social and political change by engaging with public institutions as a policy researcher, jurist, legal consultant or advisor. The programmes at Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth distinguishes itself from others in the field and prioritizes research by enabling the students to access information from Indian cultural contexts and Knowledge Systems, such that they may use this knowledge for furthering their studies and research interests. 

Fellowship Award: 

• The applicant(s) selected for the Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth’s Post-Graduate Fellowship shall be eligible for a 100% Tuition Fees wavier, subject to the terms and conditions as decided by the University.

Who Can Apply: 

• Students who have received an offer letter from the Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth for their admissions in any of the programmes LL.M. Legal Theory, M.A. Public Policy or LL.M. International Trade and Commercial Law may apply. 
• Students who are applying for admission in any of the above-mentioned programmes can also apply simultaneously for the fellowship.  
• Self-motivated students having strong written and communication skills

How to Apply: 

1. Applicants who are yet to apply for admission:
   • Are required to submit an online application through the Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth Admission portal available at https://apply.cvv.ac.in
   • Please mention your interest to be considered for fellowships in your SoP.
   • The shortlisted applicants, if any, shall submit their writing samples to CVV within five days of receipt of an intimation from CVV. 
   • The shortlisted applicants, if any, shall be called for an in-person/ online interview after reviewing their writing samples.

Terms & Conditions:

1. The applicant selected for the Chinmaya Vishwavidyapeeth’s Post Graduate Fellowship (hereinafter “Fellow”) shall be eligible for a 100%. Tuition Fees waiver, subject to the terms and conditions as decided by the University.
2. The fellowship is a two-year full-time residential programme and the Fellow shall be available at Kochi for the full duration of the programme. 
3. This Fellowship is intended for LL.M students and MA Public Policy students to conduct research in the areas of India specific Legal Theory, Foreign Trade, Commercial Laws, Public Policy and Jurisprudence. Therefore, the Fellow is required to submit a detailed dissertation in an area approved by the University, to the satisfaction of the Research and Academic Committee for LLM and MA PPG, within the submission dates informed by the University. 
4. The Fellow shall be required to publish at least two research papers/articles in UGC refereed Journals/ International Journals (as accepted by the Programme Director) during the course of the Programme.  
5. In the event, the Fellow is unable to fulfil the aforestated conditions,  the Fellow shall be required to pay the full tuition fees as applicable to the programme. The Vice-Chancellor of the University shall have the final discretion in making any decision relating to the Fellowship Programme. 
6. The fellowship shall not cover incidental expenses such as exam fees, local transportation, photocopying etc. Any such charges, if applicable to Post Graduate Students as per University Policy shall be borne by the Fellow.
